Innocent Big Knit 2011

More hat news!  this time mini...

Innocent’s Big Knit first appeared in 2003 when Innocent smoothie drinkers knitted 20,000 hats to raise £10,000 money for Age Concern.

Since then The Big Knit has grown every year and they are aiming to have 650,000 hats in 2011.  The mini hats are knitted by knitters from across the country.  The hats are then counted up and handpacked onto smoothie bottles. They are then sent off to stores across the UK, and will be available to buy later this year.

For every bottle with a hat sold, 25p is donated to Age UK.  This donation will help provide physical warmth and combat isolation and loneliness by bringing older people together with people in their community through everyday activities (like knitting).

Over 100 Age Concerns/Age UKs centres get behind the campaign, running knitting groups in their centres.  All of the money raised through the hats knitted in these groups goes directly back to the Age Concern/Age UK centres to allow them to continue providing support to elderly people in their local community.

The deadline for all hats in Friday 14th October.  And you send your hats to:-
Fruit Towers, The Big Knit, Innocent ltd, Fruit Towers, 342 Ladbroke Grove, London W10 5BU.
