We've got 9 shades - including 3 variegated.

This is a DK weight and a blend of cotton and synthetic fibres.

We've got some new patterns too!

Another version of our free shop pattern.  This time using Rowan Alpaca Classic, a mix of cotton and alpaca.

Original version in Rico Luxury Alpaca

For the Rowan hat you need to hold two strands together.  Although I've done ours in one colour, you could use different colours to create a marled appearance.

new shop sample - alpaca blend sweater

This is an oversized round necked raglan sweater.

It is a classic sloppy jumper.  Nothing remarkable... BUT it is knitted in Rico Superfine Luxury Alpaca.  An alpaca and acrylic blend that is supersoft and super squishy.

It's becoming one of our most squished samples!

New shop sample - Winston

The Winston Pullover, designed by Jane Richmond, is a super chunky jumper.  Knitted top down in a very thick yarn, this is a quick knit and perfect for beginner garment knitters and for our Rico Melange BIG!  The Melange BIG makes it super soft and light!

We have about 6 shades in stock and the pattern is available to buy in the shop through Ravelry or you can buy it yourself... here.

Super Chunky Cable Scarf

A quick scarf in a new shade of Melange BIG, a super chunky from Rico.

The pattern is free from Rowan and we've used two balls to make the cowl... although we didn't join the ends so we've got a super chunky scarf instead.

A quick statement knit and a good first cable project!

Garter Stripe Shawl

Our newest shop sample is perhaps our simplest shawl pattern - and it's easy to adapt too!

This uses Rico Merino Plus Tweed DK in 4 neutral shades.  But you could do it in one colour or lots of different ones.

You can easily make it bigger too... just keep knitting.

125m/50g - 45% wool, 45% acrylic, 10% viscose

Our newest DK is a new wool and acrylic blend from Rico.

5 shades are available - shades of brown and grey and a lovey deep green too.

It's very soft with a tweedy fleck adding interest.

I immediately cast on a triangle shawl in garter stitch using 4 of the shades.

When this is finished it will be a shop sample and another free simple pattern which will be available in the shop!

POP! in Rico Classic Print DK

At the end of summer we added the new Classic Print DK to our popular Rico Classic Baby range.

It's a self patterning striping DK yarn... super soft and easy care.  There are now 4 shades in the shop.

Our shop sample is the cute POP by Rachel Atkinson.  A seamless cardigan that is a quick knit and a great beginners pattern for top down knitting.

Rico Melange DK

We've added 4 new shades to Rico Melange DK.  It's a self striping yarn which is wool rich (53% wool/47% acrylic) and feels super soft and cosy!

We're thinking accessories and garments and we've seen some stunning blankets too!

Rico Melange Chunky
Simple Cowl, Shades of Wicklow, Caponcho, Ribbed Cardigan

Rico Melange Chunky is one of our most popular yarns, with its soft touch, long colour repeats and choice of vivid or muted shades, its great for garments and accessories.  Up until now its just been available in a chunky weight but now we stock a lighter weight version too!

With a whopping 200m on a 50g ball and 5 shades in stock, we think Melange DK  will be a winner too...

This was an impulse knit during the heavy rain at the beginning of June, which probably influenced the autumnal colour choice too, so it's not entirely appropriate for the current 'heatwave'... but you can't go wrong with a cosy wrap even at the height of Summer!

The pattern is Shades of Wicklow and is available to buy on Ravelry.  It's an asymmetrical shawl which gives lots of styling options* and it uses a chunky yarn so it knits up quick too!  The designer used 3 different shades to stripe her shawl but I've used the self striping Rico Melange which gives a variety of shades and stripe widths.  You can see all the details on our Ravelry project page.

Two new yarns in the shop - perfect for little ones

We've got 2 new additions to our fantastic Rico Baby range... perfect for any little ones in your life.

Both are easy care synthetic yarns and both are super soft.

Rico Teddy Aran in 5 shades and we've got some very cute and cosy patterns too.

New Rico Melange sample - a poncho!

Using a free pattern from Ravelry - Rosa's Caponcho - and 4 balls of Rico Melange Chunky.

This is a great pattern.  It's knitted in the round so it's easy to adjust to suit you.

You could knit the cowl neck shorter or make it a ribbed polo neck.

You could knit the body longer or shorter too.

You could even add a stitch pattern to the edge.

Rico Creative Bonbon is a self striping 53/47% wool acrylic blend in BIG 100g/100m balls.

It has a lovely blurred stripe - with shades blending and twisting into each other. They blend beautifully with our Rico Essentials Super and our pom poms too.

The 7 brand new shades in Rico Baby Classic DK have arrived!

They're a great addition to the range - offering a more muted but not pastel option!

There are also some lovely new patterns including a military style jacket and a lovely swing cardigan.

Most patterns go up to age 4-5 years.

Oh!

And we've also got the new Rico Baby Merino DK - a 100% Merino yarn in soft shades and yet more beautiful patterns too!

Super Chunky

We've got the first of our Super Chunkies in the shop!

A new 50/50 wool.acrylic blend from Rico in super bright shades and some neutrals too.

It has an impressive 100m per 100g, its very soft and it is extremely satisfying to knit with!  Super Chunkies normally use 10mm needles, which normally means quick results.

We're putting together a collection of patterns perfect for beginners and those who want a quick knit...  First up is a beginners scarf - using 2 balls of our Super Chunky.

We think this would be a great beginners project - cast on and knit every row - but it's not a neverending scarf - this super thick yarn knits up very quickly!

You only need 2 balls and the pattern even includes instructions on how to add fringes.

Perfect for gift giving too!

We're expecting a fantastic book with lots of patterns for accessories in this Super Chunky yarn.  In fact there is another Super Chunky coming soon...
