new shop sample - Capo

Capo is an armholed poncho... so the easy-wear of a poncho, but you can use your hands easily!

The pattern is by Elizabeth Smith, and available to buy in the shop (through Ravelry pattern sales).

We used West Yorkshire Spinners Re:treat to knit ours.  There are 11 shades now in the shop - including this marled blue and grey one.

If you like simple shapes and seamless knitting, I'd highly recommend checking out Elizabeth Smith's patterns.

New Chunky and Super Chunky yarn in the shop

Two new yarns have arrived in the shop!

Robin Phoenix is a vibrant chunky acrylic that knits to a self striping effect.  Accompanying the yarn are several patterns for children's garments and accessories... but it can be used for other chunky patterns too.

The next new yarn is Wendy Super Chunky, a wool/acrylic blend with a different texture to our Rico Super Chunkies and it comes with a lower price tag too!

New Rico Melange sample - a poncho!

Using a free pattern from Ravelry - Rosa's Caponcho - and 4 balls of Rico Melange Chunky.

This is a great pattern.  It's knitted in the round so it's easy to adjust to suit you.

You could knit the cowl neck shorter or make it a ribbed polo neck.

You could knit the body longer or shorter too.

You could even add a stitch pattern to the edge.

An economical chunky in a wool rich blend (25% Wool).

It's only £3.25 per ball so a chunky cardigan isn't going to break the bank!

takes between 7 and 10 balls, so...£22.75 - £32.50

3 - 5 balls - £9.75 - £16.25 (the larger size should fit a 12 year old)

You can use other chunky patterns too.   Just be sure to check your tension!

Whilst knitting for your Spring/Summer wardrobe... how about something cosy and fast for the current Winter weather!

We've used Wendy Merino Chunky and Rico Fashion Highland Chunky.

Wendy Merino Chunky is a very squishy 100% Merino yarn that knits up pretty quickly... for when you need something warm and quick...

Tassel Wrap

perfect as an extra layer when the weather turns chilly

Using only 6 balls of Patons Colourworks Aran and a simple pattern - you can create a show stopping wrap... chunky and squishy but lightweight.

This pattern uses a similar technique to Wingspan - short row shaping.  You can make it easier by using a stitch marker to keep track of where you are on a row, simply turning you work around and knitting shorter and shorter rows... creating the triangle effect.

Fashion Highland Chunky...

 

 

Now that our supply of Wendy Norse and Freedom Purity is coming to an end, we're bringing in our new chunky yarns over the next month.

 

First in is Rico's Fashion Highland Chunky, an acrylic/wool blend that can knit to a 14 stitch x 19 row tension on a 6.5mm needle. Its machine washable and comes in a lovely palette of muted shades.

 

We're bringing in Rico's patterns too but this yarn can be used with other chunky patterns... we still have stock of the Wendy Chunky Collection and the amazing Purity book, as well as lots of other patterns too.

 

We'll be whipping up a shop sample tout suite!
