This sample uses Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply Shoreline which has 365m per 100g. An equivalent amount in another 4ply will give you a similar size.
How about a Zauberball for stripes?
Or you could use a thinner or thicker yarn.
The shawl is worked side to side. So you work it, increasing to the depth you want (or when you've used 50% of your yarn) then you decrease back down to a few stitches.
This means... you can use a straight needle! So it's a great pattern for those that dislike circular needles but like lace edge shawls.
