new shop sample - Rialto Lace shawl

Using less than 2 balls of Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace this triangle shawl is stunning!

This is a written pattern, there is no chart, however there is regular increasing, a consistent 16 stitch repeat across the row and a simple purl row on the wrong side... all of which make it a little bit 'easier'.

I've written up my notes on the Ravelry project page - with tips on using stitch markers to keep track of the stitch count and the pattern.

Rialto Sock - new shop sample...

New shop sample for Debbie Bliss Rialto Sock... in the newest shade 22.

The pattern is Reyna by Noora Laivola.  It's available for free on Ravelry and is a lovely project.

It's a simple pattern that includes bands of eyelets which give a wee bit of interest whilst knitting and a great effect when wearing!

I've blocked ours hard - so it's a substantial size for less than one ball of yarn.  You can make it bigger by adding more repeats.

Check out the pattern's project pages on Ravelry here.

We've been showing work in progress photos of this project on Instagram... you can follow us here.

And here's a wee photo collage of all our Rialto Sock shop samples (link to Ravelry)... it's a versatile yarn!

Knit Night scarf and a different sock!

A easy peasy scarf that takes one ball of our new Debbie Bliss Rialto Sock yarn.

Designed by Louise Zass-Bingham, this is such a great pattern, with lots of options.  You can do the simplest version or add a picot edge (very easy!) add eyelets or beads.  It even has advice on changing the shape and using different thickness of yarn.

Named because it's easy to do whilst chatting at a knit group but also good for TV knitting and travelling and when you want something simple and soothing.

This works great in the self striping Rialto Sock (soft against your neck too!) but would also look lovely in a solid colour...  Socks Yeah or Juniper Moon's Herriot Fine?

Maybe a luxurious heavier weight one in worsted weight Herriot?

Knit Night pattern in the shop and the yarn is too!

Have you seen our Different Stripe sock?

It uses one ball of Rialto Sock yarn but we've split the ball into 2, 50g balls and worked 5 rows from each smaller ball.  Forcing the self striping yarn to stripe in a different way.  This is a popular way to use this style of sock yarn... you can see lots of inspiration on Ravelry.

Debbie Bliss Rialto Sock has arrived...

top row - Roskilde (which also has purple & pinks in it!), New Orleans, Ultra
bottom row - Mutek, Fuji, Isle of Wight

We've started with 6 and we'll (very) likely add more...

And we've got patterns too.  Sock ones that'll work with any of our other sock yarns.  And remember sock yarn isn't just for socks...

Rialto Sock is £9.95 for 100g ball, one ball is more than enough for a pair of adult socks, a shawl and probably 2 hats!

A tale of two affections...

two affections - Karen's Rialto Lace and Fiona's Rowan Summerlite

One of our most popular shop samples is Colour Affection by Veera Välimäki (pattern available to buy on Ravelry).  Originally knitted in 3 shades of Rialto Lace.

We love it so much - a versatile shape, gorgeous stripes and mindless knitting* that we've each made our own version.

Karen has made her Colour Affection in Rialto Lace,  Fiona in our new Rowan Summerlite 4ply Cotton.

Whilst Karen had the beautiful blocking qualities of a 100% merino laceweight, Fiona was alot more cautious not too over block the cotton (which has no memory - once stretched it ain't going back).

But this cotton is so soft... even after washing.  It drapes so well that we can forgive it's lack of elasticity.

Pattern available to buy online, yarn is in the shop and the scarves are around our necks!

Oh!  and we've just unpacked a brand new 4ply that would be lovely as a Colour Affection...  Juniper Moon Herriot Fine in 7 shades in the shop...  lush!

*yes we admit it, it often feels endless too...
