Simple Skinny Lace Scarf

We love Louisa Harding's Amitola.  A soft blend of wool and silk, combined with amazing colours makes this yarn perfect for accessories.

We've got a Simple Eyelet Shawl (free pattern available in the shop and on Ravelry) and our Imagine When (pattern available to buy on Ravelry).  And now we've got another simple scarf (only uses one ball!)

Based on our super chunky Winter Garden scarf (yarn now discontinued) this scarf features a 2 row pattern, repeated until you run out of yarn.

Make it wider or shorter - its up to you!

Dewberry is a versatile accessory that can be worn bunched up like cowl or pulled down over your shoulders like a poncho

Knitted in our new Louisa Harding Amitola Grande it feels AMAZING.  And takes only 1 ball.

The pattern has two sizes and we've knitted the large one.   It starts like a top down shawl - you knit back and forth - then you join to knit in the round.

It's a fun and very quick knit (easy to do in a day) and has enough going on to be interesting but not so much you have to sit in silence and count!

With the Amitola Grande we would recommend you start swatching with a 6 or 6.5mm needle.

One of our most popular yarns is Louisa Harding's Amitola.  A beautiful lightweight DK yarn - 80% wool and 20% silk.  It has a long colour repeat with some surprising colour combos.

We've used it in accessories - Simple Eyelet Shawl and Imagine When, and there are also lots of garment patterns too.

This Autumn/Winter season we've added 3 new shades to our Amitola collection.

We are also very excited with the addition of Amitola Grande.  An Aran weight version with the same great colour combos and fibre content.

Amitola Grande is £13.95 a ball... but there is 250m on the 100g ball.

So... what does that mean?  Well you can knit either of the hat/scarf and hat/mitts combo shown above with 2 balls.

Or Tay, the cropped jacket ,with 3-4 balls.

Or Comrie, the longer lace jacket, with 5-6 balls.

Or how about the dress, Amulree, with 3-5 balls.

Fillans, the stunning lace tunic on the cover of the pattern book only takes 4-5 balls.

One ball alone would make a fabulous cowl, scarf, neck thingy!

our Super Eyelet Shawl in the USA

A wee while ago we were approached by the organisers of the Illiana Yarn Crawl asking if they could use our Super Eyelet shawl pattern to promote their event and specially dyed yarn.

The Illiana Yarn Crawl  is a self-guided tour of yarn shops along the border of  Indiana/Illinois border from 12th through the 25th July for all knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners and other fiber artists.

Our pattern will showcase their special dyed yarn.

We can't wait to see their creations!

Take one lovely summer yarn and one popular free pattern and add a new twist and you get our new Super Eyelet shawl - free pattern in the shop...

The shawl uses only 2 balls of Louisa Harding Noema.  It's a quick knit on 4.5mm needles and uses the simplest of stitches to achieve a lacy pattern.

Our Simple Eyelet Shawl featured a few rows of eyelets, this Super Eyelet Shawl has a lot  lot more!

But its all the same stitches and the pattern is very easy to change - you could add even more eyelets!

The pattern calls for 500 yards of a 4ply yarn.  We used Amitola from Louisa Harding.

Amitola is a light DK - a sport weight.  We used 2 balls and a 4mm needle*.  We only had 3g of yarn left over! You can read about it on our Imagine When project page on Ravelry.

Amitola is a 80% merino, 20% silk blend and we have lots of shades in the shop!

Amitola has its own pattern books - garments and accessories, and we have our own free shop pattern for a simple triangle shawl too...

*if you are a loose knitter (like Fiona!) you may want to use a 3.5 or 3.75mm needle as you could run out of yarn if you use a 4mm!

new shop sample - Azurine in the shop!

Azurine is a cropped cardigan with a pretty picot edge in Noema, a colourful cotton/acrylic blend.

This is from Louisa Harding's new Spring/Summer collection.  You can read more about it here.

It's a straight forward pattern with a simple lace section along the bottom.  You knit the fronts and back in one up to the arm holes so there is minimal sewing up.  And if you don't do cropped you can easily add length - just remember to buy more yarn!

Karen is knitting a sample in our other new Spring/Summer yarn - Debbie Bliss Juliette.  But she has changed her mind re the choice of garment!

New for Spring/Summer 2014 - Louisa Harding's Noema

Our other new yarn for Spring/Summer is Louisa Harding's Noema.

A cotton/acrylic blend that stripes with a slight thick and thin texture and a subtle sheen.

This yarn has a lot going on and all for £4.95.

It has an almost worsted tension listed on the ball band (20 stitches by  28 rows on 4mm) but the stunning pattern book shows how versatile this yarn can be using different needles and changing the tension.

Amitola is BACK!

After a very long wait we've finally received some new stock of Louisa Harding's Amitola.

A gorgeous light DK yarn with a long colour repeat, you get an amazing 250m in one 50g ball. Oh... and it is an 80% wool, 20% silk blend.

We've got some new shades too.

An outdoor shoot this time... in between rain showers...

Michelle, another Tuesday night Knit group regular, in her stunning Louisa Harding sweater - Ava from Marguerite.

Knitted using  Louisa Harding Ianthe, a wool/cotton blend.

Unfortunately this yarn has now been discontinued.  We do have some shades still available and the pattern book is still in stock!  It is a DK weight so another yarn could be substituted.

Natasha has been using up a large stash of yarn... some bought some inherited.

For her latest project she combined some green DK with our blue Rialto DK and used the Maisie tunic by Louisa Harding as her inspiration.

By lengthening the tunic she made a dress...

This shawl is worked top down.  You start with 3 stitches and increase 6 stitches every alternate row using yarn overs.  This shawl takes 1 ball of Louisa Harding's Amitola - a wool silk blend with long colour repeats.  1 ball!

By soaking the shawl, gently squeezing out the water then stretching and pinning it - you greatly increase the size and open up all the yarn overs.

The pattern is very flexible - you can do no eyelet rows or more eyelet rows... just make sure you have enough yarn to cast on!

Amitola by Louisa Harding is a light DK yarn, 80% wool and 20% silk.  It has a suggested tension of 24-22 stitches x 30-32 rows on 4mm - 3.75 needles.  It has a HUGE 250m per 50g ball and costs £6.95 per ball.  

As you would expect from Louisa Harding there is a stunning pattern book with ladies garment and accessories.
